In February 2018, schul.cloud started in Germany. Since then, more than 7,500 schools have joined the schul.cloud and trust in the free schul.cloud. We are glad about the lively exchange and the open dialogue, which we may experience through our customer contact. In the discussions with customers we receive suggestions, constructive criticism and we are asked some questions. If you do not receive an email to reset your account password, please check the following:
If you get the message that your e-mail address is already in use, there is already an account in the schul.cloud system registered with this e-mail address.
To reset your password, click "Forgot your password?" in Web Desktop Client or in the apps in the login area.
In the next step, enter your email address. You will receive a password reset email to the email address you entered. Click the button and enter your new password.
We recommend resetting the password via the browser on the PC, as there are display errors on mobile devices or some devices do not call up the reset link correctly.
After you have registered in the schul.cloud, you will receive an activation letter by post with your activation key. This is on the way to you on the way, which can sometimes lead to delays.
Note: As we send you the letter to your school, it is usually sent to the secretariat. Please ask if it has already arrived there or check if you already have it in your mailbox at school.
If you can not log in to school.cloud, there may be several reasons. Please check the following points thoroughly:
Did you receive the activation key by mail?
Did you receive the registration key from a colleague or teacher?
Log in at https://app.schul.cloud/app#/start/register with your key. Only then can you log in with your user data.
Are your credentials correct?
Please check the correct spelling and case and exclude typing errors.

Only users with the permission level "Teacher" can invite additional users to the schul.cloud.
You can then copy the displayed registration key and, for example, send it to students, parents or teachers by e-mail. Users can then register with the key at https://app.schul.cloud/#/register. Note: Registry keys can be created multiple times.
In general, members of schools and educational institutions from Germany, Austria and Switzerland are entitled to use schul.cloud. The initiative to register the schul.cloud comes from a teacher of the school / educational institution or the school management.
For schul.cloud students, teachers (this includes the school management as well as people who work administratively at the school) and parents of the respective school are entitled to users. These different user groups have different permissions.
Students on schul.cloud have the right to create channels and conversations. In addition, they have their own file storage. Parents can create conversations through the schul.cloud and have their own file storage. Teachers are allowed to create channels and conversations on schul.cloud. In addition, they have their own file storage. Teachers and school management can use the registry key to invite new users and administer schul.cloud.

Students receive an invitation to schul.cloud from their teacher. With this you can log in on the login-page. To use the apps, they must first be downloaded from the Apple iTunes Store for iOS devices and the Android Play Store for Android devices. Students can then sign up with their credentials.
For security reasons, the authentication of a device on which schul.cloud is not used for more than 4 weeks will be disabled. The account will then be logged out on this device and the login data must be entered again. When schul.cloud is used, device authentication is automatically extended by 4 weeks. In order to prevent the expiration of the authentication, the App must therefore be used regularly.
Content in the schul.cloud is end-to-end encrypted. A valid key is therefore required to access the content. If the content is displayed to you in encrypted form in a chat, a key must be transmitted by a conversation partner. To do this, you can start a request in the chat, which is then displayed to the conversation partner for transmission.
If the content is still displayed encrypted, call up schul.cloud via the desktop client and use the key combination CTRL+Shift+R.
Whether files can be opened directly in the app depends on the file format of the file. PDF files can be opened and displayed directly in the mobile apps. Video and audio formats can also be played directly.
An external application is required to open and edit open documents. To do this, the file must be downloaded and opened in an external application.
Voice messages can be recorded in the mobile apps.
iOS: In chat, tap the "plus" symbol next to the text field and select "Voice Message". Tap the record button and record your message. Tap the "Done" button to send the message.
Android: In chat, tap the paper clip icon next to the text field and select "Voice Message". Tap the record button and record your message. Tap the hook in the upper right corner to send the message.
Yes, we have prepared a parent letter including a declaration of consent as a template for you. You can simply download it and use it directly.

Yes, you can easily sign in on multiple devices. With the different apps, you always have your schul.cloud with you - at the school PC with the desktop application, at home via the web and on the go on your smartphone or tablet.
The user authorizations are linked to the user role the user has. You define the user role directly during the creation of the registration key. In the basic school.cloud you can choose between the user roles teacher, student or parent.
Teacher: Can create channels and conversations, invite other users and administer user data via the user administration
Students: Can create channels and conversations
Parents: Can create conversations
If you use the basic module of schul.cloud pro, you can create your own user roles via the organization settings -> user roles and assign the desired permissions to them.
The e-mail address can be changed by each user independently. To do so, click on "Settings" or your profile picture in the Web- or Desktop Client and change your e-mail address in the "E-Mail" section. The new e-mail address can be used from the next login.
The user data (name/first name) of all other users can be changed by users with the role "teacher" or administrators (schul.cloud pro). To do so, click on the pencil icon in the user's row in the user administration and adjust the name.
A 10-digit registration key can be created to invite users. You can do this in all clients:
iOS: Click on your profile picture in the sidebar and access the settings. Click on "Registration key" and then on the plus icon to create a new key. This key will allow other users to register themselves.
Android: Click "Settings" in the sidebar and then "Registration keys". Click the plus icon to create a new key. Using this key, other users can register themselves.
Web/desktop client: Click "Invite user" at the bottom left to create a new key. Alternatively, you can also create the key via Settings -> Registration Key.
As a student or parent, please contact the contact person of your school or the responsible teacher. Only teachers can make this change.
As a teacher, please follow the steps below:

As a teacher, you can administer settings in the user management. There you will see all created users with name, creation date, status and assigned role.
Users can only be deleted by teachers.
Attention: After the user is removed from the organization, the user will be deleted permanently. A subsequent restoration of the user is not possible. Users can only be deleted by teachers.
You have the option to mute (= mute) the settings so that you do not receive any notifications. If the topic is no longer relevant, you can also leave the channel, re-entry is easily possible depending on the channel type. If your own channel is no longer necessary for the topic, but the communication does not stop, you can refer the conversations to the right channels and delete the "flooded" channel.
By the way: The schul.cloud pro ives you more administrative options. We are happy to advise you on this!
Yes, parents can also be integrated into schul.cloud.
If you also want to involve other user groups, such as school administrators, employees or school administrators, and if you need additional functions besides messenger and file storage, we recommend our extension schul.cloud pro. This view is correct in the administration console of schul.cloud. There are no administrators in the Basis-schul.cloud, the administration is split up to all users with the permission "teacher". If you would like your school to be administrated by certain administrators or make further settings, we would be happy to advise you on schul.cloud pro.
Make sure you always have a stable internet connection. Also make sure that you do not close the app immediately after sending your message. If you use Android make sure that there is still enough free space on your device.
Your chats are protected using true end-to-end encryption. For details, please refer to our information under "Technology". Your files are protected using transport encryption.
Each user has 250 MB of space available. There is no distinction between user groups.
The school.cloud pro generally has 200 GB of storage available per school, which is shared between users. If required, you can allocate more storage space to individual users.
Note: This answer refers to the schul.cloud pro version 2013 to 2018.
In the basic-schul.cloud each user has 250mb of storage space available. If your storage space is full, first check your own file storage. Here you can delete files you no longer need. If the storage space is still full, check the file repositories of the channels you are a member of. Files uploaded to the channel will be subtracted from your space. You can delete your uploaded files from the channel file trays to clear your storage space.
If you need more space, you can upgrade on the schul.cloud pro, where there ist 1GB of space available.
The schul.cloud is based on the existing communication platform stashcat and has the same technical background. The infrastructure is therefore already available and can be used for schul.cloud. This means that schul.cloud users will not be charged for using the app in the future.
stashcat is already used by the police in Lower Saxony and Hesse. More information about the basic technology stashcat can be found at www.stashcat.com/en.
To receive e-mail notifications, you have to activate this option within the schul.cloud. To do so, click on Settings -> Email and activate the email notifications. When interacting in channels or conversations, you will receive a summary of the interactions by email if you have not retrieved the messages directly in the app.
An extension of the storage space is not possible in the free version. If more space is needed, we recommend our extension schul.cloud pro.
